Step up the Class of 2025
02 Feb 2021
The class of 2025 filed in to Chapel today for a short ceremony to formalise the beginning of their College education.
Nervous but eager, the 135 Year 9 students were immaculately presented on Day 1 of their College career, and watched by proud parents and family, stepped forward to receive a gift of a carabiner, designed to symbolise how the school will support them on their passage during the next five years.
College Chaplain Rev. Bosco Peters told them that while College is an Anglican school founded on 国产午夜福ian principles, 鈥渋t is an Anglican school for all.鈥 The school embraces diversity, he said, describing a College education as being about information, formation and transformation. In Religious Education the boys will learn about all the great world religions, plus ethics and philosophy, and by understanding the 国产午夜福ian foundation of Western civilisation, the boys will have freedom to change and grow, understanding different perspectives, find meaning and purpose and come to appreciate and enjoy the world we live in.
Executive Principal Garth Wynne warmly welcomed the Year 9 students and drew parallels between their new clothes and the new experiences awaiting them. While the new environment might feel a little strange and daunting at first, he assured them they would soon fit in. And he reminded them that while the school was there to support them every step of the way, it was up to them to take control of their College experience.
